Celebrating Academic Milestones: IRAS Graduation Day at Collegium Novum

On June 29th, the Collegium Novum building was abuzz with excitement and anticipation as the International Relations and Area Studies Programme held its much-awaited graduation day. The occasion marked the culmination of 3 years of hard work and dedication for the graduating class, who were joined by esteemed guests including the Dean, Prof. Paweł Laidler, and IRAS Director, Dr. Dominika Dziwisz. It was a day filled with heartfelt speeches, profound gratitude, and warm congratulations, as the graduates took a leap towards a promising future.

The picturesque surroundings of the Collegium Novum building served as the backdrop for the IRAS graduation day, a testament to the inspiring journey that the students had undertaken throughout their academic endeavors. The ceremony would not have been complete without expressing sincere gratitude to the Dean, Prof. Paweł Laidler, GLAD Director, Dr. Dominika Dziwisz, and lecturers: Prof. Małgorzata Zachara-Szymańska, Prof.  Marek Czajkowski, Prof. Piotr Łasak and Dr. Karolina Rak for their invaluable presence and unwavering support. Their commitment to academic excellence and dedication to fostering a nurturing environment for students have been instrumental in shaping the success of the IRAS Programme.

Prof. Laidler took to the podium, delivering an impassioned speech that encapsulated the significance of this milestone. He commended the graduates for their resilience, intellectual curiosity, and commitment to learning, emphasizing that their journey does not end with graduation but rather opens doors to new opportunities and challenges in the dynamic world of international relations. Prof. Laidler's words resonated deeply with the graduates, leaving them inspired and ready to embrace the future with confidence.

Dr. Dominika Dziwisz followed suit, acknowledging the accomplishments of the graduating class. She applauded their intellectual prowess, creativity, and global mindset, highlighting the crucial role they would play in shaping the world's future. Dr. Dziwisz urged the graduates to use their knowledge and skills to contribute positively to society, emphasizing the importance of ethical leadership, cultural understanding, and diplomacy in today's interconnected world.

Amid thunderous applause and beaming smiles, each student walked across the auditorium, receiving their well-earned diploma. The celebrations concluded with a memorable moment as the graduates symbolically tossed their caps into the air. Hat Throwing is a longstanding tradition, serving as a symbolic representation of the culmination of the academic journey and the transition from students to graduates.
