The special session of the Board of the European Students' Union is held in order to discuss problems and issues related to European higher education institutions. The aim of the ESU, which represents 47 national student bodies from 39 countries, comprising more than 11 million students, is to represent and promote educational, social, economic and cultural interests of students at the European and international level, including contacts with the European Union, the Council of Europe, and UNESCO. The ESU acts as a advisory body on the Bologna Process and is a full member of the European Youth Forum.
