International Relations and Area Studies is honored to welcome Class of 2022 among the Programme graduates. After three years of intensive studying, doing research and defending innovative BA theses, 29 students received their well-deserved diplomas.

Graduation Gala took place on July 6th 2022 in the Jagiellonian Hall of Collegium Maius. The Hall features a gallery consisting of 100 portraits depicting the most significant people connected to the university: Polish kings, Kraków bishops (university chancellors), and the most distinguished professors (including rectors) and alumni. Now it was a witness of 29 outstanding IRAS students receiving their diplomas and acknowledgments.

The event was attended by Faculty representatives: the Dean - dr hab. Paweł Laidler, prof. UJ, the Vice-Dean for Educational Affairs - dr hab. Ewa Trojnar, prof. UJ, dr hab. Małgorzata Zachara-Szymańska, prof. UJ and IRAS Director dr Dominika Dziwisz. In her speech dr Dziwisz congratulated the new graduates and expressed her hope that JU will have a special place in their hearts.

“IRAS is the best example of Programme promoting diversity, multiculturalism, and openness. Today the IRAS gathers students from more than 40 countries. I am proud that we have managed to build a team of sensitive, talented, and passionate young people from so many parts of the world. This is the value and the biggest advantage of the Programme that cannot be overestimated, especially now, when we are witnessing the atrocities of the war in Ukraine” – said dr Dziwisz.

The Dean, dr hab. Paweł Laidler, prof. UJ, wished all graduates many further successes – both in their academic and professional life. Considering how unique IRAS graduates are and how ambitious their goals will inevitably be, it is more than certain that impressive accomplishments will follow.

On behalf of new graduates, Olivier van de Vossenberg thanked IRAS authorities and lecturers for their wisdom, support and motivation. As he stated - International Relations and Area Studies was an excellent choice and he would recommend it to anyone seeking top quality education.
